Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor Vs Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Price, Powertrain, Design & More
Toyota India recently announced the release of their upcoming subcompact crossover SUV, the Urban Cruiser Taisor, set to be launched on the 3rd of April. The new compact SUV from Toyota will be built through the ongoing Maruti-Toyota partnership, adding to their list of shared products.
The Urban Cruiser Taisor is based on the same powertrains and body as the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Toyota has tweaked the design style of the exterior to be more representative of the brand's style, but the rest remains unchanged. Let’s have a comparison between the Urban Cruiser Taisor and the Fronx on paper.

The Maruti Suzuki offers 14 different variants of the Fronx in the Indian Domestic Market, whereas the Urban Cruiser from Toyota is only being offered in 12 variants. The Toyota is currently not being offered in the Delta CNG and Delta+Turbo variants equivalent offerings from Maruti Suzuki.
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is slightly more expensive than the Maruti Fronx with about a Rs.22,000 to 25,000 premium for the 1.2-liter petrol variants. The turbocharged petrol variants from Toyota and Maruti are priced the same.

In terms of the powertrain options, the Urban Cruiser gets the same 1.2-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engines as the Fronx. The 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine produces 90 bhp and 113Nm of torque. And the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine produces 100bhp and 148Nm of torque
Being built through the Maruti-Toyota partnership, the Urban Cruiser Taisor shares most all its exterior body panels with the Fronx. Among the few changes to the styling, the Urban Cruiser Taisor gets a Trapezoidal grille with a honeycomb pattern, and new LED DRLs setup in the front.

Much like the Fronx’s taillights, the Urban Cruiser gets a slightly tweaked full-width light bar at the back. The Taisor is equipped with 16-inch diamond-cut alloy rims. The front bumper has been designed a bit as well.
The Urban Cruiser Taisor gets Café White, Sportin Red, Gaming Grey, Lucent Orange, and Enticing Silver as the colour options. The Fronx is available in Arctic White, Splendid Sliver, Earthen Brown, Nexa Blue, Bluish Black, and Opulent Red. The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx turbo variants are both available in dual-tone options.
Both the Urban Cruiser Taisor and the Fronx get the same features. They both get a 9-inch floating infotainment touchscreen system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, a wireless mobile charger, and automatic climate control. Both compact SUVs get 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, an electronic stability program (ESP), and ISOFIX child seat hinges.

It’s a smart move for brands to partner and build cars together like Maruti and Toyota have done for many cars now. This move allows consumers to choose between the brand and service providers of their choice. And also allows the brands to help each other in the market.
