Updated Afeela Electric Car Prototype Showcased – Sony-Honda EV Inches Closer To Production
Sony-Honda partnership is gearing up to make waves with the anticipated Afeela electric sedan. Poised to redefine the electric vehicle (EV) landscape, this cutting-edge creation from Sony Honda Mobility is expected to hit the roads by 2026.
At the recent CES 2024, the world caught a glimpse of Afeela's updated prototype, signalling that the electric sedan is on the fast track to production. This latest iteration reveals a design that's a near mirror of what future drivers can expect to see cruising down the street.

The newest Afeela prototype presents transformative design tweaks that are impossible to miss. Its front bumper has been refined for a sleeker look, crowned by a prominent nose that boasts a digital display.
This high-tech feature is nestled between cutting-edge headlamps, which sit below an eye-catching illuminated strip. From the thicker pillars to the reintroduction of traditional side mirrors, each change hints at a meticulous evolution.

Not only has the Afeela's exterior undergone a transformation, but its dimensions have also expanded. The vehicle now stretches an additional 20 mm in length, measuring a commanding 4,915 mm long, while maintaining its width, height, and generous wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
Inside, the cabin retains the essence of its predecessor but introduces a new centre console featuring a dual wireless smartphone charger. Subtle upgrades like a revised steering wheel and an updated rearview mirror enhance the driver's experience.

It's not just the physical attributes that make the Afeela a standout; it's also the software-defined capabilities that turned heads at CES 2024. Yasuhide Mizuno, CEO of Sony Honda Mobility Inc., showcased the vehicle's tech-savvy prowess by driving the EV onto the stage with nothing more than a PS5 controller.
This demonstration underscored the innovative integration of gaming technology into the automotive domain, hinting at a future where cars and entertainment converge seamlessly.

Under the body shell, the Afeela dazzles with a duo of electric motors, strategically placed on the front and rear axles to deliver all-wheel drive performance. Each motor is capable of generating 241bhp, combining for an impressive total output of 482bhp.
The car's heartbeat comes from a 91 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is supported by both a 150 kW DC fast charger and an 11 kW Level 2 charging capacity, ensuring that the Afeela is as efficient as it is powerful.
