2026 MG Hector Teaser: Specs, Features & Price Expectations
MG Motors has released a new teaser about its upcoming compact SUV, the 2026 MG Hector. The teaser starts with an exciting tagline, "It's been a while. Get ready to be surprised." We believe this new model will not be a facelift, but will carry a fresh design language and interior features.
The 2026 MG Hector is set to feature more premium design, rich interiors, up-to-date tech and infotainment features. This car will also be the first ICE model to be launched under JSW leadership. Here are our expectations for the new 2026 MG Hector.

2026 MG Hector Expectations
MG is testing the car by covering it with a full green tarp instead of regular camouflage. This means it will have a fresh exterior design with many added visual elements such as a new front grille, Alloy wheels, Bumper, Skid plates and Bonnet design. The signature LED headlamp and tail lamp design is likely to be retained for the 2026 Hector.
No changes will be made to the power units as the new 2026 Hector SUV will be powered by the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine producing 141 BHP and 250 NM of torque, and a 2.0 Litre turbo diesel engine that delivers 167 BHP and 350 NM of torque.
On the interior, the 2026 model is expected to feature a new infotainment system, dashboard, seats and tech. The car is set to have ventilated seats for both front and rear passengers, a new touch interface, connected car technology, and highly enhanced ADAS capability.

MG's Journey in the Indian Market
MG Motors has already achieved huge success in the electric car segment. Their MG Comet EV and MG Windsor EV are among the top-selling electric cars in the country. However, in the ICE category, they are still struggling to compete against strong and established rivals such as Hyundai, Kia, Tata Motors and Mahindra.
Unlike its rivals, who brings better localized products, MG Motors is more dependent on SAIC for ICE and EV platforms. The Hector is sold in the compact SUV segment and competes with rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Volkswagen Taigun.
