Citroen Passes Full GST 2.0 Benefit To Customers - Prices Cut By Up To ₹2.7 Lakh
Citroen India has announced that it will pass on the full benefit of the GST 2.0 reforms to its customers. The revised ex-showroom prices, effective from September 22, 2025, cover the C3 hatchback, the C3 Aircross SUV, the Basalt coupe-SUV, and the C5 Aircross flagship SUV.
The price corrections are a direct result of the simplified GST 2.0 tax structure. Under the new system, small cars under four metres with petrol engines up to 1.2 litres fall into an 18 per cent GST bracket, while larger SUVs and sedans are taxed at a flat 40 per cent rate. This has eliminated the previous cess system, significantly reducing the effective tax burden on larger vehicles.

For Citroën, the changes translate into substantial savings for customers. The entry-level C3 hatchback now starts at ₹4.80 lakh, down ₹29,000 from the earlier ₹5.09 lakh. The C3 Aircross receives a price cut of ₹70,000, taking its base price to ₹9.29 lakh.
The recently launched Basalt X sees a reduction of ₹75,000, with its starting price dropping to ₹11.24 lakh. The C5 Aircross, the company's most expensive offering in India, has received the steepest cut of ₹2.7 lakh, reducing the sticker price to ₹37.32 lakh.
| Model | Old Price (₹ lakh) | New Price (₹ lakh) | Reduction (₹) |
|---|---|---|---|
| C3 Hatchback | 5.09 | 4.80 | 29,000 |
| C3 Aircross | 9.99 | 9.29 | 70,000 |
| Basalt X | 11.99 | 11.24 | 75,000 |
| C5 Aircross SUV | 40.02 | 37.32 | 2,70,000 |

Speaking about the announcement, Kumar Priyesh, Director - Automotive Brands, Stellantis India, said: "The reduction in GST on passenger vehicles is a welcome reform that will expand access to safe, modern, and efficient mobility across India. At Citroën, we remain committed to supporting this initiative by ensuring our customers enjoy the complete benefit of this reduction. By passing on the savings in full, we aim to make our vehicles more accessible across segments, while encouraging new buyers and accelerating adoption during the festive season."
The reductions come at a strategic time, with the festive season expected to push demand across the automotive sector. Affordable pricing for the C3 hatchback is likely to appeal to first-time buyers, while the sharper pricing of the C3 Aircross and Basalt positions them more competitively against established rivals in the mid-size SUV space. The revised price of the C5 Aircross also enhances its value proposition in the premium SUV segment.
Citroën joins a growing list of automakers passing on the GST 2.0 benefits to customers. Tata Motors, Mahindra, Hyundai, Skoda, and quite a few others have already announced new price lists. The reforms are expected to make vehicles more affordable across categories, stimulate demand, and simplify compliance for manufacturers and dealers alike.
With cuts of up to ₹2.7 lakh, Citroën's decision strengthens its positioning in India's competitive market and aligns its products with the new tax framework that has reshaped vehicle pricing across the industry.
