Hedley Studios And Bugatti Collaborate To Create A Unique One-of-One Bugatti Baby II
Hedley Studios, previously known as The Little Car Company, collaborated with Bugatti and its Manager of Sur Mesure and Individualisation, Jascha Straub, to craft a unique Bugatti Baby II. This one-of-a-kind creation honours Bugatti's 115-year legacy by reimagining the iconic Type 35 in a three-quarter-scale electric version. The Type 35 is celebrated for its racing success and marked its centenary last year.
Straub has gained a reputation as a trusted advisor to Bugatti owners worldwide. His extensive knowledge and creative vision help clients personalise their hyper sports cars. This collaborative process allows customers to tailor their vehicles to their tastes, with Straub contributing his passion for Bugatti. For this Bugatti Baby II, they chose a striking duo-tone of ‘Nocturne’ black and ‘Giallo Midas’ yellow, colours favoured by Ettore Bugatti himself.
The exterior finish of the Baby Bugatti II is complemented by an elegant interior featuring black leather from ‘Bridge of Weir’. This design pays homage to Ettore Bugatti's creative mind and his preference for black and yellow. It also celebrates the marque’s origins in Molsheim, where the legend began. The car incorporates subtle references to Bugatti’s heritage, making it a collector’s item that embodies driveable art.
Straub's sketches reflect the prowess of the Type 35 and its on-track successes. He developed the concept through hand-drawn sketches on separate body panels before creating the final masterpiece. These sketches include horses, racing cars, Château Saint Jean, and portraits of Ettore and Jean Bugatti. At Molsheim, Straub etched these designs onto the car with precision, considering complex contours.
The artwork is preserved under a clear coat on the Baby Bugatti II’s body panels. These pieces are tributes to unparalleled skill and rich history, frozen in time for eternity. "Since 2019, we have been collaborating with Bugatti to create wonderfully unique pieces of automotive art," said Ben Hedley, Founder and CEO of Hedley Studios.
