Honda Celebrates Excellence Among Top Indirect Procurement Suppliers At Annual Conference

Honda recently recognised 33 suppliers for their exceptional contributions at the annual Honda Indirect Procurement Supplier Conference in Dublin, Ohio. These suppliers were acknowledged for their outstanding performance in providing indirect products and services to Honda's manufacturing plants and business operations across North America. The awards highlighted achievements in categories such as Supplier of the Year, New Supplier, Sustainability, Challenging Spirit, and Outstanding Value.

In 2024, Honda spent over $7 billion on equipment, materials, products, and services from suppliers throughout North America. The company collaborates with more than 6,000 indirect suppliers who support its business operations and manufacturing facilities. This extensive network includes both new partners and those that have been with Honda since it began production in Ohio in 1979.

Honda Recognises Top Suppliers for Performance

The Supplier of the Year Award was given to MPW Industrial Services, Inc. from Hebron, Ohio. This award honours a supplier that consistently delivers strong performance and value-add opportunities while meeting all contractual obligations. Meanwhile, the New Supplier Award acknowledged several new partners for their excellent implementation practices and value-based offerings.

The Sustainability Award celebrated suppliers with robust initiatives promoting corporate responsibility through social, economic, or environmental sustainability. Among the recipients were Autoelectros LLC from Powell, Ohio, and CMG Chrono Management Group from East Liberty, Ohio. These companies have demonstrated a commitment to sustainable practices.

Suppliers who embraced Honda's Core Value of a Challenging Spirit received recognition for exceeding expectations in delivering services or projects. Companies like Access Information Management Shared Services from Peabody, Massachusetts, and Amazon Web Services from Seattle were among those honoured for their dedication to success.

The Outstanding Value Award highlighted suppliers that provided competitive advantages through cost efficiencies and innovative solutions. B-K Tool & Design from Kalida, Ohio, and Dick Lavy Trucking from Bradford were recognised for their contributions to Honda's operations.

Regional Excellence

Regional excellence was also celebrated with the Regional Supplier of the Year Award. This award acknowledges regional suppliers that demonstrate exceptional value within specific areas of North America. IBC Industrial Supply Plus from East Granby, Connecticut represented the Central Region; Vallen from Belmont, North Carolina stood out in the Southern Region; while IBM Corporation from Armonk, New York excelled in the Western Region.

Honda's presence in North America dates back to 1959 when it established operations there. Today, approximately 42,000 associates are employed across various sectors including development, manufacturing, sales and service support of Honda products such as automobiles and power equipment. The company operates 18 major manufacturing plants in North America working alongside over 750 suppliers to produce diverse quality products.

Research and development activities are conducted at 23 facilities where many North American-made products are designed and engineered. Additionally, high-performance racing programs for Honda and Acura are developed within this region focusing on powertrain design among other aspects.

The theme for the upcoming 2025 conference is 'Flexibility for Tomorrow'. Jake Schmidt stated: "'Flexibility for Tomorrow' means that Honda is designing supply chains and partnerships that aren’t just responsive but resilient." This reflects Honda's commitment to adapting its operations to meet evolving customer needs while maintaining momentum amidst changing market conditions.

Honda has been building cars in North America for over four decades now; by 2024 nearly all (99.6%) of its vehicles sold within the U.S., including Acura models were produced locally ensuring proximity between production sites customers remains paramount priority throughout company's history here regionally globally alike!
