JK Tyre Launches Smart Passenger Car Tyres With Digital Sensor
Indian Tyre manufacturer JK Tyre has announced new passenger car tyres that will be embedded with digital sensors to monitor air pressure, temperature and leaks. The company claims this is the first smart tyre in India to have such technology.
JK Tyre developed these smart tyres in its Banmore factory in Madhya Pradesh. The company believes this new technology aligns with its domestic and technological objectives. These tyres were intentionally developed to prevent major breakdowns, accidents and costly repairs.
In 2019, JK Tyre introduced a cloud-based tyre pressure monitoring system through its TREEL sensors. These tyres have sensors mounted on their valves, and any leaks will be sent to the cloud-based monitoring system. It will then send tyre-related alerts to the consumer.

The new smart tyres are very different as they have a monitoring system built into the tyres themselves rather than having external mounts. These embedded sensors will monitor air pressure, temperature and air leakage.
All the data will then be transferred to the connected interface, which will alert the user about potential issues in their car tyres. The company says the motive for developing these smart tyres was to extend tyre service life, improve fuel efficiency and prevent breakdowns.

JK Smart tyres will be exclusively available at JK Tyre outlets, and the initial offering will be for tyres from 14 to 17 inches. The brand also said it will continue its research and development of the connected tyre technology to expand to more passenger and commercial vehicle segments.
