JSW MG Motor India Revises Comet EV Pricing

JSW MG Motor India has announced adjustments in the pricing of its vehicles, with the most significant changes affecting the Comet EV, the company's entry-level electric car. The price of the Comet EV has seen an increase by as much as Rs. 35,700, setting the new starting price at Rs. 7.35 lakh (ex-showroom). This adjustment makes the Comet EV available in a price range from Rs. 7.35 lakh to Rs. 9.84 lakh, covering its various models.

The Comet EV model lineup includes seven different variants: Executive, Excite, Excite Fast Charge (FC), Exclusive, Exclusive FC, Blackstorm Edition, and the 100-Year Edition. The price revision varies across these models, with the Excite and Excite FC variants experiencing a rise of Rs. 16,000 and Rs. 4,000 respectively, while the rest, barring the 100-Year Edition, have been uniformly increased by Rs. 5,300.

The automaker has also recently upgraded the 2025 Comet EV without any exterior changes, focusing on enhancing the feature list. Notable additions include a reverse parking camera, electrically foldable Outside Rear-View Mirrors (ORVMs), leatherette seats, and a four-speaker sound system. Furthermore, the mid-spec Excite and Excite Fast Charge variants now include some of these new features, although the base Executive variant does not.

For those purchasing the top-end Exclusive and Exclusive Fast Charge variants, the inclusion of a four-speaker sound system and faux leatherette seats is a significant upgrade. These additions are particularly appealing as they address the issue of the light grey interior getting soiled easily. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a 3.3kW AC charger, but the Excite and Exclusive trims offer an optional more powerful 7.4kW AC charger, which promises to fully charge the battery in just 3.5 hours.

In terms of power, the Comet EV remains unchanged mechanically. It is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor delivering 42bhp and 110Nm of torque, combined with a 17.3kWh battery pack. This setup enables the vehicle to achieve a maximum range of 230km on a single charge, as per the Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC).

The 2025 Comet EV is now available in five variants: Executive, Excite, Excite Fast Charge, Exclusive, and Exclusive Fast Charge, alongside the special Blackstorm edition. This edition features a unique 'Starry Black' exterior along with dark chrome accents and an all-black interior, offering a stylish option for buyers.

To accommodate different buyer needs, the Comet EV is also offered under a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model. This scheme allows customers to subscribe to the battery pack at a rate of Rs. 2.5 per km, excluding the battery from the vehicle’s purchase price. This innovative approach aims to make electric vehicle ownership more accessible and affordable.
