Mahindra's Scorpio And Thar Lead Sales Growth In May 2025
In May 2025, Mahindra emerged as the second top-selling original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in the passenger vehicle sector. The company achieved sales of 52,431 units, marking a significant 21% increase compared to May 2024's 43,218 units. Unlike many other OEMs that saw a month-on-month (MoM) decline, Mahindra's sales remained stable with a slight rise of 101 units. Currently, Mahindra holds a market share of 15.03%.
Mahindra's Best-Selling Models
The Scorpio/N range was Mahindra's top-selling model in May 2025. Year-on-year (YoY) sales rose by 5% to reach 14,401 units from the previous year's 13,717 units. However, MoM sales saw a decrease of 7%, down from April's figure of 15,534 units. Meanwhile, the Mahindra Thar experienced high demand with an impressive YoY growth of 81%, selling 10,389 units compared to May 2024's 5,750 units. Despite this growth, Thar's MoM sales dipped by 3% from April's total of 10,703 units.

The Bolero was unique in Mahindra's lineup as it recorded both YoY and MoM growth. Sales reached 8,942 units last month, reflecting an increase of 11% YoY and a rise of 7% MoM. In comparison, Bolero sold 8,026 units in May 2024 and 8,380 units in April 2025.
Mahindra XUV3X0 faced reduced demand with a YoY sales drop of 20%, resulting in only 7,952 units sold compared to last year's figure of 10,000 units. However, its MoM sales improved by 5% from April’s total of 7,568 units. The XUV700 followed closely with sales reaching 6,435 units last month. This represented a YoY growth of 28%, although there was a MoM decline of 6% when compared to April’s figure of 6,811 units.
Electric Vehicle Segment Growth
In the electric vehicle segment for May 2025, Mahindra introduced new models like the XEV9e and BE6 which performed well. The XEV93 recorded sales of 2,815 units showing growth over April’s figure of 2,441 units. The BE6 exhibited even stronger performance with a remarkable MoM increase of 119%, achieving sales of 1,206 units compared to just 550 in the previous month.
Lower down on the list was the Mahindra XUV400 within the EV segment which had only sold about 287 units last month. This represented a significant decline both YoY by 59% and MoM by 15%. Additionally disappointing were Marazzo’s figures with only four units sold last month indicating a steep 75% YoY and 33% MoM drop.
