Nissan Tekton Exterior Design Unveiled, Interior Teased - Baby Patrol To Launch In Mid-2026
Nissan has previewed its upcoming Tekton SUV, revealing design teasers ahead of its mid-2026 India launch. The Tekton will sit in the competitive midsize SUV segment, positioned directly against the Hyundai Creta.
The Nissan Tekton gets its name from the Greek word for "craftsman" or "architect," reflecting Nissan's design ambition. The Tekton is based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance's CMF-B platform, that also underpins the upcoming Renault Duster.

On the styling front, Nissan's senior design director Ken Lee highlighted the Tekton's inspiration from the flagship Patrol SUV. The upright grille, sculpted bonnet, and muscular character lines all draw from the Patrol's DNA, while C-shaped LED headlamps and taillamps wrap around the body for a strong visual identity.
The SUV's front end includes the Tekton badge mounted prominently on the nose, flared wheel arches housing multi-spoke alloy wheels, and silver air-intake elements positioned above the fenders. Both bumpers get a dual-tone treatment, combining black and silver inserts to enhance the rugged appeal of the exterior.

At the rear, the Tekton sports an upright tailgate and an integrated roof spoiler, further emphasising its sporty stance. Nissan's designers have also added horizontal LED treatment for the tail lamps, extending across the width to create a distinctive look unique to the brand.
Inside, Nissan has released a teaser showing a layered dashboard design. The top section uses soft-touch materials, the centre features a glossy black finish, and a copper accent strip runs across the width. This three-tone execution hints at a premium, modern cabin layout.

The new Nissan Tekton is expected to share engines and chassis components with the Duster. While no technical specifications have been confirmed, we expect it to share the petrol-only powertrain configuration for India with the Renault Duster.
Production of the Tekton will take place at the Renault-Nissan plant in Chennai and the new Nissan SUV looks set to be exported to international markets. Nissan intends to strengthen its India presence with the new Tekton, bridging the gap between the compact Magnite and larger global SUVs.

Nissan has not yet revealed details about the Tekton's variant lineup, equipment list, or expected price range. However, given its positioning, it will directly target segment leaders such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara in India's midsize SUV space.
Alfonso Albaisa, Corporate Executive, Nissan Motor Co.said, "The All-New Nissan Tekton draws its design inspiration from our legendary Nissan Patrol. It is designed to disrupt, dominate, and deliver everything today's modern Indian consumer desires. Imposing, stylish, and built to set a new benchmark in India and beyond, the design and build quality are distinctly Nissan-embodying the best of Nissan's SUV DNA."

Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor in India, commented, "The All-New Nissan Tekton is going to be at the centre of the Nissan's resurgence story and offers a glimpse into the future of our product portfolio in the country. With its commanding stance, bold looks and premium interiors, we are confident that it will be a segment disruptor, appealing to customers seeking a robust yet refined C-SUV. This model will spearhead Nissan's growth story in India."
