Petersen Automotive Museum Charity Cruise-In Raises Over $140,000 For First Responders And Fire Recovery Efforts
Hundreds of car enthusiasts in Southern California braved rainy weather to attend a charity event at the Petersen Automotive Museum. The event, held on January 26, aimed to support first responders and fire recovery efforts. Collaborating with Clarios, OPTIMA Batteries, and Lotus Cars Americas, the museum successfully raised over $140,000. This amount will be donated to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, and the LAPD West Bureau.
In addition to monetary donations, more than 250 items were collected for distribution to evacuation centers and families affected by the fires. The Red Cross was present with an information booth and a blood drive collection center. The blood drive resulted in 25 pints of blood being collected, potentially saving up to 100 lives.
The event received support from Ferrari Beverly Hills, Avants, Tesla, and the Responsible Battery Coalition through car displays and donations. Waymo contributed by offering 1,000 free rides to attendees traveling to and from the event.
Terry L. Karges, executive director of the Petersen Automotive Museum, expressed gratitude for the community's generosity. "The recent fires have been devastating, but seeing the outpouring of support and generosity from the community was incredibly inspiring," Karges stated. He highlighted collaboration with local organizations like Clarios, OPTIMA, Lotus Cars Americas, and fellow car enthusiasts in aiding recovery efforts.
The museum is extending its appreciation by offering free one-day admission to all LA City fire and police personnel until April 26, 2025. Personnel can redeem this offer by presenting their work ID at the admission desk.
Free Admission for Affected Families
Families impacted by the fires can enjoy complimentary admission on select community days until February 13. Interested guests must register in advance on the community days page as availability is limited. Additionally, free field trips and transportation will be provided for classes that lost their schools during the fires.
