Rolls-Royce Celebrates 100 Years Of Phantom With Goldfinger's Public Debut At Concorso D'Eleganza Villa D'Este
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars marked a century of its iconic Phantom model at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy on 24 May 2025. This prestigious event was chosen for the global unveiling of the Phantom Goldfinger, a unique creation inspired by the 1964 James Bond film, "Goldfinger." The car debuted on the Grand Hotel’s Mosaic Lawn by Lake Como.
The Phantom Goldfinger is a bespoke masterpiece, featuring 18- and 24-carat gold accents and references to the film's characters and themes. It draws inspiration from the 1937 Phantom III Sedanca de Ville, owned by Auric Goldfinger, which was also showcased at the event. This model is one of twelve Rolls-Royce appearances in the James Bond franchise.
In addition to the debut, Rolls-Royce displayed eight original artworks illustrating the evolution of Phantom's design over its 100-year history. Created by designers at Goodwood, each piece captures a different generation of Phantom in its era's artistic style. These artworks reflect Phantom's influence over ten decades and its various roles.
Chris Brownridge, Chief Executive of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, stated: "The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is the perfect setting for Rolls-Royce, as both this gathering and our marque celebrate the motor car as an object of art, craftsmanship and cultural expression."
The event also featured an opening parade with a pristine example of Phantom V. This model has been associated with significant cultural and political figures throughout history. Its presence highlighted Phantom's status as a symbol of power and leadership.
This year's celebration coincided with heightened cultural activities across Italy. The debut of Phantom Goldfinger underscored Rolls-Royce's bespoke artistry and enduring cultural impact. It showcased not only Phantom’s legacy but also its ability to inspire as it enters a new century.
