Tata Sierra Sets Insanse Mileage Record At NATRAX - Watch The Video Here

Tata Motors' new-generation Sierra has entered the India Book of Records after achieving a certified fuel efficiency of 29.9kmpl during a controlled 12-hour run at NATRAX in Indore. The result surpassed the earlier national benchmark and was validated on the same day by authorised observers on site.

The endurance run was completed by the Pixel Motion team on November 30, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The Tata Sierra operated continuously across the test window with only brief halts for driver changes, allowing consistent testing conditions throughout the 12-hour session under monitored parameters.

Built on Tata's updated lightweight modular architecture, the Sierra uses revised suspension geometry, improved torsional rigidity and aerodynamic bodywork aimed at enhancing efficiency and stability. Low-rolling-resistance tyres, recalibrated steering assistance and reduced drag elements further supported predictable performance during the controlled endurance cycle.

The 1.5-litre Hyperion turbocharged petrol engine for the Tata Sierra is central to the achievement, engineered as a clean-sheet power unit for improved efficiency and wider mid-range usability. Its direct-injection layout, compact turbocharger assembly and thermally stable architecture enable controlled combustion characteristics suitable for extended high-load running.

The Tata Sierra's Hyperion engine features variable valve timing, reduced mechanical losses and a torque-rich calibration tuned for real-world drivability. Internal friction optimisation, lightweight rotating components and strengthened thermal management allowed stable output through the 12-hour test, supporting uniform fuel delivery and consistent speed across the full cycle.

Speaking on the achievement, Mohan Savarkar, Chief Product Officer, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said, "Setting a national efficiency record so early in the Sierra's journey is a proud moment for us. The Hyperion engine platform was built to push the boundaries of what petrol powertrains can achieve, and this milestone validates that effort. It strengthens the Sierra's value proposition for customers and underlines TMPV's commitment to bringing advanced, efficient and future-ready technologies to the market."

The Tata Sierra also recorded a certified top speed of 222km/h during separate controlled testing at NATRAX. This parallel performance run demonstrated the upper capability of the Hyperion engine under specified conditions, complementing the efficiency milestone achieved during the 12-hour endurance session at the same facility.

The Tata Sierra's overall package combines the new powertrain with features such as connected lighting, a panoramic sunroof, digital instrumentation, electrically adjustable seating and multiple driver-assist systems. These elements form the Sierra's positioning within Tata's portfolio as a modern SUV developed on an updated platform with expanded capability.
