Dodge Charger Daytona: The Only All-Wheel-Drive Muscle Car Designed For Winter Conditions
The Dodge Charger Daytona, an all-new electric model, is now the only muscle car with all-wheel drive. This vehicle combines high performance with adaptability to various weather conditions. The 670-horsepower Daytona Scat Pack and 496-horsepower Daytona R/T have been rigorously tested in cold climates like Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
"The all-new Dodge Charger is truly the world’s only all-wheel-drive muscle car," said Matt McAlear, Dodge CEO. "The Dodge Charger lineup will deliver multi-energy powertrain options and, no matter what model customers choose, all-wheel-drive capability is standard, which is an opportunity for both the Dodge brand and for our customers who live in colder climates. Two-door or four-door, battery-electric or gas-powered, the next-gen Charger Daytona is a muscle car engineered to master the street, drag strip and the racetrack, as well as treacherous weather conditions, including the cold, ice and snow."
The Charger Daytona's rear electric drive module includes a mechanical limited slip differential. This feature enhances traction and performance in icy conditions by ensuring power reaches both rear wheels. Unlike traditional open differentials that allow slipping wheels to continue slipping, this system maximises grip.
Every new Charger model comes with Wet/Snow Mode as standard. This mode optimises traction and stability in harsh weather using traction control, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), regenerative braking, and torque bias logic between front and rear electric drive modules.
Drift/Donut Mode adds excitement by allowing the propulsion system to switch to rear-wheel drive. With ESC fully off and varying levels of Traction Control intervention, drivers can enjoy drifting and donut manoeuvres in both sunny and snowy conditions.
The entire new Dodge Charger lineup will include standard all-wheel drive. This includes two-door models like the Charger Daytona Scat Pack and R/T currently available at dealerships. Four-door versions will arrive in early 2025 alongside gas-powered SIXPACK models later that year.
