Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype Blitzes The Nurburgring - New Special Editions Launched
A Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype has set a new lap time of 6:22.091 at the Nurburgring, making it the third fastest prototype ever on this track. This achievement is nearly 24 seconds quicker than its previous record in 2024. Xiaomi's determination to improve its performance is evident as it continues to try and push boundaries in the automotive world.
Prototype and Production Records
The previous record for the SU7 Ultra prototype was 6:46.87. Xiaomi has been setting distinct records for both its prototype and production versions, which can be confusing. The production version holds an impressive record of 7:04.957, leading the production EV category by surpassing competitors like the Porsche Taycan and Rimac Nevera.
The stripped-down SU7 Ultra achieved a lap time of 6:22.091, surpassing the Lotus Evija X prototype's 6:24.04. It now ranks third overall among prototypes at Nurburgring. Second place is currently held by the VW ID.R with a time of 6:05.33, while first place remains distant with Timo Bernhard's record of 5:19:546 in the Porsche 919 Evo.
Special Editions Celebrating Success
In celebration of this achievement, Xiaomi introduces two special editions. The Track Package for the "regular " SU7 Ultra costs a extra 100,000 yuan (around US$13,950) and includes upgrades like 21-inch U-shaped forged wheels, fifth-generation Pirelli P ZERO tyres or semi-slick Pirelli P ZERO TROFEO RS tyres, Bilstein EVO R coilovers, ENDLESS brake pads, carbon fiber rear wheel arches, and a carbon fiber roof.

An even more exclusive Nürburgring edition builds on the Track Package adding carbon fiber racing seats with a six-point harness, a steel half-roll cage that replaces the rear seats, carbon fiber add-ons for both the exterior and interior, a carbon fiber underbody panel for track use, and visual elements that . Priced at 814,900 yuan (approximately $114,000), only ten units will be produced in China for 2025.
Performance Specifications
Underneath its sleek design reminiscent of Porsche models, the SU7 Ultra boasts three electric motors generating a combined output of 1,527 hp (1,138 kW) and torque of 1,306 lb-ft (1,770 Nm). This allows for a 0-100km/h sprint time of under 2 seconds and a top speed of 350km/h.
