New BYD Atto 3 Evo Revealed: Longer Range, More Power & Updated Tech

BYD has unveiled the new Atto 3 Evo, an updated version of its compact electric SUV offering a claimed driving range of up to 510 km. The new model features an updated powertrain, a larger battery pack, and several enhancements. Positioned above the standard Atto 3 in BYD's global lineup, the Evo is designed to offer improved performance, enhanced comfort, and greater overall practicality.

New Larger Battery

Chinese EV giant BYD, one of the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturers, has introduced the Atto 3 Evo with a larger 74.8 kWh battery pack. The SUV will be available in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations, offering claimed driving ranges of around 510 km and 470 km, respectively.

Drivetrain Power Outputs

The RWD variant produces 309 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in approximately 5.5 seconds. Meanwhile, the AWD variant generates 443 bhp and 560 Nm of torque, achieving the same acceleration in a brisk 3.9 seconds.

Fast Charging Capabilities

The Atto 3 Evo supports DC fast charging of up to 220 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in around 25 minutes under optimal conditions. It also supports standard AC home charging for everyday convenience.

Technology & Features

Inside, the Evo retains a similar cabin layout to the standard Atto 3 but introduces updated features. It gets an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system with Google-powered connectivity.

Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are offered as standard for enhanced safety. The gear selector has now been integrated into the steering column, improving convenience and freeing up console space. Additional highlights include a head-up display (HUD) and heated rear seats.

New Suspension Setup

The updated Evo model equips a new five-link rear suspension setup, replacing the four-link system used in the standard Atto 3, which is expected to improve ride comfort and stability. Practicality is further enhanced with a 490-litre boot space, along with an additional 101-litre front storage compartment (frunk).

Expected Price

The regular BYD Atto 3 is currently priced in India at ₹24.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Given the larger battery pack, added features, and performance upgrades, the Atto 3 Evo is expected to carry a higher price tag if launched in the Indian market.
