JSW Motors Jetour T2 SUV Design Patented In India - Mostly Unchanged

A design patent for JSW Motors' upcoming SUV, based on the Jetour T2, has been filed and approved in India, hinting that the debut model from JSW's passenger vehicle division will closely follow the styling of the global Jetour T2 mid-size SUV.

The India patent was approved on February 27, 2026, and was originally filed in December 2025 by Chery Automobile, the parent company of Jetour.

Jetour T2 - Boxy, Rugged Looks Largely Retained

The design patent reveals that the India-bound SUV will retain the boxy and rugged styling that characterises the Jetour T2 globally. Up front, it shows a squared LED headlight design that is linked by a black trim piece with pattern detailing. The grille features a honeycomb pattern, and the muscular bumper includes one fog lamp and two sets of pixel-style DRL clusters on each side.

The bonnet appears heavily contoured, and both sides of the SUV feature door-mounted ORVMs, a detail noted in the patent that differs slightly from earlier teasers where the mirrors were shown mounted on the A-pillars. Roof rails and alloy wheels appear largely unchanged from the international version, and flared wheel-arch cladding and the general window profile remain consistent with the global design.

Rear styling details are not yet available from the patent, but given the overall similarity up front and along the sides, it is expected that little will change from the global T2 appearance.

Jetour T2 - Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain

While the design patent itself does not confirm mechanical details, the SUV is widely expected to be offered in a plug-in hybrid configuration in India. Internationally, the Jetour T2's i-DM plug-in hybrid powertrain pairs a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 26.7 kWh battery pack, offering an NEDC-claimed electric range of around 139 km and a combined range of over 1,000 km.

Combined output for the AWD version is rated at 381 hp and 610 Nm globally, though India-spec tuning may differ. Other versions of the T2 sold internationally include pure EV and conventional petrol variants, but indications are that JSW Motors will prioritise the hybrid version for its initial India launch.

JSW Motors' India Plans

JSW Motors is preparing for its debut in the Indian passenger vehicle market, with dealer recruitment already underway ahead of an expected launch around Diwali 2026. The upcoming SUV will be assembled domestically at JSW's manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, reinforcing local production intentions.
