Spy Pics: Kia Syros EV Spotted Testing - New Design Elements
The upcoming Kia Syros EV has been spotted testing on Indian roads with visible design differences compared to the internal combustion version. The Syros EV was spied by reddit user RasacL (posted on the CarsIndia subreddit) near the Kia production plant in Andhra Pradesh.
The spied test mule of the Kia Syros EV was heavily camouflaged. However, its boxy silhouette clearly identified it as the electric derivative of the Syros compact SUV.

Kia Syros EV - Spy Pics Show EV-Specific Changes
The test mule of the Syros EV retains several exterior elements from the standard Syros, including vertically stacked LED headlamps with L-shaped daytime running lights, LED tail-lamps and the front bumper layout with ADAS radar hardware.
Despite the heavy camouflage, a number of EV-specific revisions can be observed. The easiest change can be seen near the front left wheelarch, where the charging port has been placed.

The placement of the charging port differs from some of Kia's other electric offerings, suggesting a model-specific packaging approach. Previous sightings also indicate front and rear parking sensors, pointing to the presence of advanced driver assistance systems.
The rear bumper of the Kia Syros EV appears to use a different design with a combination of body-coloured and black panels, while the roof rails also seem to have been reshaped, likely for aerodynamic efficiency.

The alloy wheels on the Syros EV test mule appear identical to the ICE model's 17-inch units, but the test vehicle features neon green brake callipers similar to those seen on other Kia performance-oriented models.
The interior of the Kia Syros EV has not been captured in detail so far. However, it is expected to closely mirror the layout of the petrol-powered version, with only minor visual changes and EV-specific software updates.

The ICE model currently offers features such as dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats and a touch-based climate control panel, which are likely to carry over to the electric version.
Kia Syros EV - Platform And Powertrain Details
The Kia Syros EV will use the K1 platform, shared with the Hyundai Inster electric vehicle sold in overseas markets. The model is expected to adopt a front-wheel-drive configuration only.
Exact battery specifications have not been confirmed, but the Inster EV offers 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery options with a maximum claimed range of up to 369 km, providing a reference point for the Syros EV's potential capabilities.
Kia Syros EV - Expected Positioning & Rivals
The electric Syros is likely to be positioned as Kia's most affordable EV in India, sitting below larger electric models in the brand's lineup. Once launched, the SUV is expected to compete with models such as the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, and other compact electric SUVs in the entry-level segment.
