Maruti Suzuki Brezza Turns 10: Over 14 Lakh Units Sold Since 2016

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza has completed 10 years in the Indian market. Launched in March 2016 as the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, sales of the Brezza SUV has crossed the 14 lakh sales milestone over the past decade.

When it was first introduced, the Brezza was offered with a 1.3-litre diesel engine and quickly became one of the highest-selling models in its segment. It was among the early entrants in the sub-4 metre SUV space and helped push the Indian car market towards SUVs.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza Turns 10

In 2020, Maruti Suzuki discontinued diesel engines across its line-up, and the Brezza transitioned to a petrol-only powertrain. The SUV then received a generational update in 2022, dropping the "Vitara" prefix and becoming simply the "Brezza". The new Maruti Suzuki Brezza brought updated styling, a revised interior and additional features.

The second-generation Maruti Suzuki Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre K-series petrol engine and is available with both manual and automatic transmission options. The Maruti Brezza delivers a mileage of 20.15kpl when configured with the 5-speed manual gearbox and 19.80kpl when the engine is paired with the 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The Brezza also comes with a host of features such as a head-up display, a 360-degree camera, an electric sunroof, and connected car tech. In terms of safety, the Maruti Brezza features six airbags, ISOFIX anchors, ESP and Hill Hold Assist as standard across all variants.

Over the years, the Brezza has remained a consistent volume contributor for Maruti Suzuki in the compact SUV space. Sales of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza crossed the 1 lakh mark in the first 8 months after its launch. The Brezza crossed the 5 lakh sales milestone in January 2020 (46 months after it was first launched) and surpassed the 10 lakh (1 million) units sales mark in December 2023, the same year it was the best-selling SUV in the country.
