Nissan Plans Two New Models In 2026 After Gravite, Targets 1 Lakh Annual Sales
Nissan Motor India is preparing to strengthen its presence in the Indian market with three new models, including the recently launched Gravite MPV. The automaker has also set an ambitious goal of selling around 1 lakh vehicles annually in India by FY2026-27 as part of its revival strategy.
Globally, Nissan has been facing declining sales and has been restructuring operations in several markets to cut costs and improve sustainability. Despite these challenges, India remains a crucial production and export hub for the Japanese brand.
A key pillar of this strategy is the Renault-Nissan manufacturing facility in Oragadam, Chennai, which produces vehicles for both domestic sales and international exports. This plant currently manufactures models for both Nissan and Renault, reinforcing India's importance in the global supply chain.

Nissan To Launch 3 Models In 2026
The recently introduced Gravite, a sub-4-metre 7-seater MPV, is a major part of Nissan's turnaround plan. Built on the CMF-A+ platform and closely related to the Renault Triber, the MPV targets budget-conscious families looking for practicality and convenience.
Launched at a starting price of ₹5.65 lakh (ex-showroom), the Gravite positions itself as one of the most affordable 7-seater MPVs in India, offering modern features, decent performance, and practical cabin space.
Two More SUVs Expected
According to an Economic Times report, Nissan Managing Director Saurabh Vatsa said the company plans to introduce two additional models by the end of the year. It is also aiming to achieve 2 lakh unit sales both domestically and internationally, along with three new models for the Indian market, including the Gravite.

The upcoming models are likely to be based on the Renault Duster, which is also known as the Tekton SUV, and the forthcoming 7-seater Renault SUV. This indicates the company has strong ambitions for the Indian market. In recent years, Nissan's sales in India have largely been driven by the Nissan Magnite compact SUV. While the company also introduced the global-spec Nissan X‑Trail, its premium pricing limited its market impact.
With the Gravite already launched and two new SUVs expected this year, Nissan is aiming to rebuild momentum in both domestic sales and export volumes. The Renault-Nissan alliance is also expected to introduce an EV in the future, likely developed on a shared platform.
