Tata Punch EV Battery Options Detailed By Variant - Price, Range, Performance & Charging Times

Tata Motors recently launched the facelifted Punch EV with prices ranging from ₹ 9.69 lakh to ₹ 12.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2026 Tata Punch EV is also offered with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) at a starting price of ₹6.49 lakh with a battery pack rental of ₹2.6/km.

The new Tata Punch EV facelift is offered with two battery pack options - 30 kWh and 40 kWh - across five variants: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+. The smaller battery serves as the entry-level option, while the larger pack is paired with mid- and higher-spec trims to provide improved performance and longer driving range.

Tata Punch EV: 30 kWh Battery Pack - Variants, Pricing & Range

The 30 kWh battery is available on the Smart (₹9.69 lakh) and Smart+ (10.29 lakh) variants of the facelifted Tata Punch EV. This new Medium Range setup replaces the pre-facelift Punch EV's 25kWh setup, thanks to a more energy-dense LFP battery pack.

The 30kWh battery pack in the Punch EV is paired with a single electric motor mounted to the front axle that produces 87.1bhp (65kW) and 154 Nm of peak torque, which allows for 0-100km/h sprint time of 13.5 seconds.

The smaller 30kWh battery pack gives the Punch EV a range of 365 - 375 km (currently being certified), which Tata claims translates to a real-world range of up to 275km on a single charge. The 30kWh battery pack is offered with an 8-year warranty, which is extendable up to 2 more years.

Tata Punch EV: 40 kWh Battery Pack - Variants, Pricing & Range

The larger 40 kWh battery is available on the Smart+ (₹10.89 lakh), Adventure (₹11.59 lakh), Empowered (₹12.29 lakh) and Empowered+ S (₹12.59 lakh) variants. The new 40kWh battery pack (Long Range), replaces the 35kWh unit found on the pre-facelift model, thanks, once again, to a more energy-dense LFP setup.

The 40kWh battery pack on the Punch EV is paired with a single electric motor mounted to the front axle that pushes out 127.3bhp and 154Nm of peak torque. This allows the Tata Punch EV 40kWh variants to sprint from 0-100km/h in 9 seconds.

The larger 40kWh battery pack on the Tata Punch EV delivers an ARAI-certified range of 470km on a single charge, which Tata claims translates to a real-world range of up to 355km on a single charge. The 40kWh battery pack is offered with a lifetime warranty.

Tata Punch EV - Charging Options

All variants of the facelifted Tata Punch EV are offered with both AC and DC fast charging options. Each variant of the Tata Punch EV comes with an on-board 3.3kW AC charging setup that can charge up the 30kWh battery pack from 10-100% in 11.9 hours, with the 40kWh battery pack taking 14.8 hours for the same.

Upgrading to the faster 7.2kW AC charging option cuts the 10-100% charging time for the 30kWh battery to just 4.5 hours, which rises to 5.3 hours for the larger 40kWh battery pack. Both battery packs can also be recharged on the go thanks to 4 levels of regenerative braking, which uses the energy expended during braking to charge up the battery pack.

All variants of the new Tata Punch EV also support fast DC charging. When connected to a 65kW DC fast charger, the Tata Punch EV can fast charge its battery pack from 10-80% in just 30 minutes (20-80% in 26 minutes). Tata claims that when connected to a 65kW DC fast charger, the Punch EV can add 135km of real-world range in just 15 minutes.
