Tata Sierra EV Launch Confirmed For Q1 2027

Tata Motors has confirmed that the all-electric Sierra will be launched in India in the first quarter of 2027. The new of the upcoming launch of the Tata Sierra EV arrival was revealed during the quarterly earnings call by Tata Motors.

The Sierra EV is one of several new electric models planned under Tata's future product roadmap and will expand the company's presence in the midsize SUV segment, where it will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and the Toyota e Bella among others.

Tata Sierra EV - Based on Tata's Acti.ev Platform

The all-electric Sierra will be built on Tata Motors' dedicated Acti.ev architecture. This born electric platform the firm's underpins newer EVs and is designed to support different battery capacities and drivetrain configurations. The newest EV from Tata to arrive with the Acti.ev platform underpinning it is the recently launched Punch EV facelift.

While Tata Motors has has not disclosed exact specifications of the upcoming Safari EV,the new electric SUV is expected to sit between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV in the firm's all-electric lineup and we expect it to feature powertrains similar to that of the electric Harrier including an all-wheel drive variant similar to the Harrier QWD.

Tata Sierra EV - Design To Mirror Sierra ICE

The production Sierra EV is expected to closely follow the design showcased on the ICE version of the SUV. Key visual elements including the boxy profile, upright stance and a large glass area, including the signature rear side window design will be retained.

The all-electric version of the Sierra will feature EV-specific styling cues such as a closed grille section and aer-optimized alloy wheels compared to the ICE version, as was seen in some of the teasers that were revealed before the launch of the ICE Sierra.

Tata Sierra EV - Part Of Tata's Future EV Onslaught

The Tata Sierra EV is part of an upcoming range of electric vehicles across multiple segments that Tata Motors will launch over the next few years. Other than the Sierra EV, Tata Motors also has the Safari EV in the works as well as its premium Avinya lineup based on the Avinya concept showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 last year.

While the Sierra EV will sit under the Harrier EV in Tata's electric vehicle lineup, the Safari EV is expected to be the new electric flagship offering for Tata Motors. The Avinya EV, on the other hand will mark Tata's entry into the luxury EV marketand details about whether it willbe launched as a Tataor under another brand name are still in the ether.
