Top 10 Best-Selling Carmakers (Jan 2026 Sales): Maruti, Tata & Mahindra Lead
India's passenger vehicle market saw a total of 4,52,589 units being dispatched in the month of January 2026. India's passenger vehicle manufacturers grew by 51,051 units year-over-year, or 12.71 per cent, compared with the 4,01,538 units sold a year earlier.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited continued to dominate overall volumes with the highest market share, while Tata Motors posted the strongest growth among the major players in the Indian passenger vehicle market.

Maruti Suzuki was the best-selling carmaker of January 2026 with 1,74,529 units dispatched. Sales rose 0.54% (+930 units) year-on-year from the 1,73,599 units sold in January 2025.
Tata Motors was the second-best-selling carmaker of January 2026 with 70,222 units sold. Tata's sales volumes increased 46.07% (+22,147 units) year-on-year over the 48,075 units sold in the same period in 2025, marking the highest absolute gain among all manufacturers.

SUV specialist Mahindra secured third with 63,510 units dispatched in January 2026. Mahindra's sales grew by 25.37% (+12,851 units) YoY compared to the 50,659 units recorded a year earlier in Jan 2025. Mahindra launched the XUV 7XO, the facelifted successor to the XUV7OO last month.
South Korean carmaker Hyundai finished fourth with 59,107 units dispatched. Hyundai's sales improved 9.45% (+5,104 units) YoY compared to the 54,003 units it shipped out in Jan 2025.
Japanese carmaker Toyota rounded off the top 5 as it dispatched 30,630 units last month, registering 17.01% YoY growth (+4,452 units) compared to the 26,178 units it sold over the same period in 2025. Toyota is getting ready to launch its first-ever EV for India in the form of the Urban Cruiser Ebella that was revealed last month.
Kia finished in 6th place, with 27,603 units reaching new homes last month. Kia's sales rose by 10.30% YoY (+2,578 units) over the 25,025 units it sold in January 2025.
Japanese carmaker Honda sold a total of 6,193 units in January 2026 as it just about managed to cling onto 7th place on the sales charts, Honda's sales grew by a modest 1.47% YoY(+90 units) from the 6,103 units it sold in January 2025.
Czech carmaker Skoda took 8th place, selling 5,739 new cars in January 2026. Skoda's car sales in India rose by 38.86% YoY (+1,606 units) year-on-year from the 4,133 units it sold in Jan 2025..
JSW MG Motor India sold 4,843 units in January 2026 as it claimed the 9th spot on the sales charts. MG's sales rose by 8.71% YoY (+388 units) compared to the 4,455 units it sold in January 2025. MG will launch the all-new Majestor SUV, which wasseen this month.
Renault India completed the top ten with 3,715 units sold in January 2026, up 33.63% (+935 units) from 2,780 units sold over the same period last year.
Outside the top ten, Volkswagen India reported 2,710 units, down 18.96% (-634 units), while Nissan Motor India recorded 2,502 units, up 4.08% (+98 units). Citroën India posted 1,058 units, jumping 125.11% (+588 units), and Jeep India closed the month at 228 units, down 26.45% (-82 units).
