Volkswagen ID. Polo EV Interior Revealed: Brings Back Physical Buttons

Volkswagen is set to launch its ID. Polo electric car later this year. A few weeks ago, the brand revealed the exterior of the model, and now its interior has also been unveiled. The key highlight is the return of physical buttons, replacing a largely touch-based interface. The five-seater electric hatchback is developed on Volkswagen's MEB+ platform.

This subcompact electric vehicle will move back to its original design philosophy of a human-first approach. The touchscreen interfaces were very hard to use and often needed the driver's attention, which made them take their eyes off the road.

But with physical buttons, drivers would be more confident with their controls, and it also improves driver attention. However, Volkswagen hasn't removed all the touchscreens from the car; they were neatly blended with physical controls, balancing modern and traditional functions.

The interior also features a large 10.25-inch digital cluster with a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The climate control buttons and the hazard buttons are made physical, along with steering-mounted controls.

Another speculated feature for the ID. Polo is a retro-themed digital display, inspired by the 1980s Golf Mk1, which could give the cockpit a classic look. The electric Polo is expected to be revealed in production form later this year, with sales likely to begin from early 2027.

The electric hatchback is expected to be offered with two battery pack options, delivering a claimed range of around 300 km and 450 km (WLTP). Power outputs could range between 85 kW and 165 kW, while maximum torque is expected to be around 310 Nm.

It is also expected to offer premium safety features such as Level 2 ADAS, including steering assist, lane assist, and speed assist, along with multiple airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, ABS with EBD, and an emergency SOS system.

The Polo remains one of the most popular hatchbacks in Volkswagen's global lineup. The electric version of the premium hatchback is having high expectations. However, the brand has not revealed any details regarding a potential India launch.
