Volkswagen Tayron R-Line India Launch: What to Expect From This Flagship SUV
Volkswagen is set to launch the Tayron R-Line in India on February 19, 2026. The SUV has already been unveiled in the Indian market, and we will soon witness the full launch along with official pricing. Here are the expectations for the upcoming D-segment SUV.
Volkswagen Tayron R-line Launch Expectations
Exterior Design
Since the car has already been unveiled, we have a fair idea about its exterior design elements. At the front, it gets a signature grille, wide bumpers, and connected DRLs. At the rear, it features signature connected LED taillights with an illuminated VW logo at the centre. There is also R-Line badging across several parts of the exterior, along with 19-inch Coventry Diamond alloy wheels.

Premium Interiors
The interior is expected to feature a premium blacked-out theme with elements such as sporty Varenna leatherette seats, a 15-inch infotainment system, 30-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and massaging seats, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control with smart dials, and a premium sound system.
Safety Tech
It is expected to get nine airbags as a standard safety feature. Additionally, it could feature Level 2 ADAS, driver stability systems such as ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, multi-collision braking, intelligent parking assist, all-wheel disc brakes, and hill descent control.

Powertrain
The Tayron R-Line will be powered by a 2.0L TSI petrol engine producing 204 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. It also features 4MOTION all-wheel drive, which allows the SUV to handle mild off-roading.
Pricing Expectations
The Tayron R-Line will be the new flagship SUV offering and is expected to be priced at a premium. We expect the SUV to be priced between ₹45 and 50 lakh (ex-showroom). Its direct sibling, the Skoda Kodiaq, is currently priced at ₹39.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will rival models such as the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, MG Majestor, and the Skoda Kodiaq.
