Alfa Romeo To Be Turned Into A Standalone Company
Alfa Romeo will soon be turned into a separate entity, with its own management, exactly the way Ferrari and Maserati operate. At present, Alfa is part of the Fiat Group Automobiles S.p.A, along with the core Fiat brand, Lancia, Abarth and Fiat Professional (commercials vans).
Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne is expected to make the announcement on May 6 when he lays out the strategy for the next five years for all the companies owned by the group.

Marchionne seems to be taking Alfa in the same direction as Maserati, which is now a profitable entity. Much like Maserati, Alfa is will also benefit from Ferrari made engines.
A total revamp is expected post Alfa Romeo turns autonomous, with several new launches and discontinuation of old models like the MiTo and Giulietta. In their place will appear rear wheel drive sedans and coupes, including a Spyder (2016) and all-wheel drive crossover (2017) and SUV models (2018).

Also reported to be part of Alfa Romeo's growth strategy is to make Italy the sole manufacturing base for these cars.
Confirmation about all expected changes is expected to be made on May 6.
