2015 Audi A3 Sedan Pases IIHS Crash Test With Top Rating
Good news for Audi and people in India who are planning on buying the Audi A3 sedan that's set to launch in our country sometime this year. The 2015 Audi A3 mid-sized luxury sedan has passed the U.S. Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) crash test with flying colours.
The 2015 Audi A3 has been named by the institute as its Top Safety Pick+, which is the highest safety rating awarded by IIHS.
To receive Top Safety Pick+ rating a car has to pass five variety of crash tests which prove the overall crashworthiness of a car. These are: small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints & seats.

The 2015 Audi A3 sedan received ‘Good' rating in every category.
The small overlap front crash test involves crashing 25 percent of a vehicle's front end on the driver's against a rigid barrier at about 65 km/h. This is considered to be one of the toughest test to pass for any car and the Audi A3 performed brilliantly.

IIHS noted that "intrusion into the driver's space was minimal, and risk of injuries to the dummy's legs and feet was low." The side and front air bags also did an excellent job of preventing the driver's head from hitting any rigid part of the car.
