Luxury Cars Abandoned Across India Reflect Wasted Wealth And Scandals
In India and many other countries, luxury cars often end up abandoned. Unlike budget cars, which owners repair diligently, luxury vehicles are sometimes left to deteriorate. This neglect can be due to various reasons, such as owners fleeing the country or banks impounding the cars for unpaid dues.
One notable example is a Mercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet in Kolkata. This car was owned by the infamous Saradha Group, known for its ponzi scam that defrauded people of nearly INR 1,000 crore. The car has been photographed and shared on social media by an Instagram page named Calcutta Exotics.

The vehicle was found in the basement parking of Shapoorji Sukhobristi in New Town, Kolkata. The images reveal that the car is missing a headlight washer cover on the left side of the front bumper. However, there is no visible rust or other damage on the body panels.
Despite being unused for a long time, the car's air suspension is reportedly still functional. The Mercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet was registered under Suvojit Sen, son of Saradha Group chairman Sudipta Sen. The police seized the car in 2013 during their investigation into the Saradha chit fund scam.

Suvojit Sen had handed over his car to a friend before going into hiding. When police tracked down his friend, they seized the Mercedes convertible sports car. The vehicle is registered in Haryana and has not been auctioned yet, even though it has been over a decade since its seizure.

The abandoned luxury cars serve as a stark reminder of the lavish lifestyles once enjoyed by their owners. These vehicles often lie forgotten in various parts of the country, symbolising ill-gotten wealth that has now gone to waste.

The Saradha chit fund scam's investigation has long been completed, and many accused have served or are serving their sentences. Yet, their luxury cars remain abandoned, collecting dust and grime.
