Air India's First Airbus A350 Embarks on Inaugural Ferry Flight
Air India, now under the ownership of Tata Group, has announced the launch of its first Airbus A350-900 aircraft's ferry flight. The inaugural ferry flight took off from Singapore towards Toulouse, France.
The Airbus A350-900, which sports the airline's new livery, symbolises the dawn of a fresh chapter for Air India. The airline shared images of the A350 aircraft on Friday on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), capturing the new livery of the aircraft.

"Another step closer to the arrival of India's most-awaited aircraft. Our Airbus A350-900 takes off on its first ferry flight from Singapore to Toulouse in the new Air India colours," the firm wrote on X.
A senior official at Air India revealed to ANI that the aircraft's livery was painted in Singapore and that the aircraft returned to Toulouse for additional processes before its scheduled delivery in December 2023.

Under Tata's ownership, Air India has charted ambitious expansion plans. The airline placed an order for 40 Airbus A350 aircraft, which will be gradually incorporated into its fleet over the coming years. The order includes six A350-900s and 34 A350-1000s, with the first A350-900 expected to arrive in December 2023 and the remaining five A350-900s by March 2024.
This strategic move is a part of the airline's broader turnaround plan under Tata's stewardship. Air India recently solidified its order for a total of 250 Airbus aircraft and 220 new Boeing flights, collectively valued at $70 billion at list prices. The purchase agreements for these aircraft were secured with Airbus and Boeing during the Paris Air Show earlier this year.
