Dummy Rides A Flying Bike Successfully

Several Czech scientists, earlier this week, realized their childhood dreams by successfully test flying a bicycle. The test flight was conducted in Prague´s Letnany exhibition grounds, with a dummy onboard instead of a human.

Six propeller blades, powered by a battery, managed to lift the bike up and fly around a few feet above the ground for a couple of minutes before being landed. The bike was radio controlled remotely, but the goal is to get a real person on a two wheeler and have it controlled by him.

The bike weighs 100 kg and took several thousands dollars to build, though the exact amount is not known. Milan Duchek, one of the engineers behind the flying bike said, "Now the project is in the stage where the bicycle is controlled with the help of a transmitter. But we want to continue until a human being is capable of sitting on it." Milan also said a version that is capable of carrying a person will be developed this year,

Ales Kobylik, another person involved in the project said, "Our main motivation in working on the project was neither profit nor commercial interest, but the fulfilment of our boyish dreams."
