Gold Lamborghini Aventador By Robert Gulpen Worth $7.5 Million
How does someone who is insanely rich and already owns all sorts of expensive sports cars up the ante? One way to go about it would be to buy a scale model car that is a dozen times more expensive than the real thing. Such a thing actually exists and as you might have guessed, it happens to be in Dubai.
The car we are talking about is a 1/8th scale model of a Lamborghini Aventador made by Robert Gülpen from Germany. What's special about the car is that it will be made from solid gold. The golden Aventador model will be put up for Auction of course, with the bidding price set to start at $7.5 million!! $650,000 from the sale will go towards charity.

The images you see below is actually of a display model, which only has an extremely thin layer of gold measuring just 1/1,000 mm thin. The actual solid gold Aventador will be made based on the specifications of the buyer.

The solid gold Aventador will be carved out of a solid block of gold weighing 500 kg. The finished product will still have 25 kg of gold (worth ~$1.2 million in the market). The interior of the model will be encrusted with valuable gemstones, whereas the wheels will be cast from gold and platinum. Actual value of all the materials used comes up to about $2.6 million.

Furthermore, the solid gold Lamborghini will be encased in bulletproof glass showcase, which itself will wear a Lamborghini logo crafted from gold, platinum and other precious stones. Gulpen hopes to set three Guinness World Records - for the most expensive scale model car sold, the most secure display container and the most expensive Lamborghini logo.
This is not the first ultra expensive scale model car coming from Gulpen. Back in 2011 another scale model Aventador, made from carbon fiber and jewel encrusted wheels was made. While no gold was used then, it still had an asking price of $4.7 million.
