Watch: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Does 100 In 4 Sec
Generally off-road vehicles are not the fastest or the nimblest of vehicles, since their heavy, sturdy, high riding construction is more suitable for tackling tough terrain than drag racing. But this does not mean a heavy weight cannot be turned into a sprinter.
You see, the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, seen in the gallery below, is by no means a lumbering giant. The 470 HP, 6.4-liter Hemi V8 powered SUV straight out of the factory can reach 0-60 mph or 96 km/h in an impressive 4.8 seconds.
Now, there are people who for whatever reason, feel like changing their SUVs into a sports car and the guys at Hennessey Performance Engineering are the right kind of people for that job (These are the same people who have turned a Lotus into a nearly 2000 HP freak of a car).
Once Hennessey's HPE650 package for the Jeep Grand Cherokee is fitted, which adds a supercharger, ECU remapping, fuel delivery system upgrades among several other performance upscaling tuning, the output goes up to 650 HP. The Hennessey tuned Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is capable of reaching 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, completing 400 meters in 12.6 seconds at a speed of 177 km/h.
