Mahindra Gifts Thar SUV To Nikhat Zareen – Launches “Road To Gold” Initiative
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., today handed over the keys of a new Mahindra Thar SUV to World Boxing champion Nikhat Zareen, after she defeated Nguyen Thi Tam of Vietnam to secure the second world championship title.
Nikhat Zareen is also the second Indian female boxer to have won two or more gold medals at the world level after MC Mary Kom. This makes Nikhat Zareen one of the greatest women boxers from India to this date.
Also, the 2023 World Women's Boxing Championships witnessed Indian women boxers dominate at the International level, with eight Indian boxers in the quarterfinals and four qualifying for the medal rounds. India also topped the medal tally among the 63 nations by winning 4 gold medals.
"We aim to encourage emerging sports talent in the country to win more accolades for India at the global level, bringing honour to our country. We also believe that the 'Road to Gold' initiative will inspire many young women to pursue their dreams." said, Veejay Nakra, President of the Automotive Division, Mahindra.
Speaking about the 'Road To Gold', the initiative is launched by Mahindra in association with the Boxing Federation of India and aims to capture the individual journeys of the boxers as a video series, showcasing the hard work, dedication, and perseverance that goes into achieving success.
According to Mahindra, this series will provide a good platform for young women to inspire and be inspired, motivating them to pursue their dreams in sports. Furthermore, such initiatives further strengthen the brand's commitment towards social responsibility.
In addition to that, Mahindra also partnered with the IBA Women's World Boxing Championships, and the new Mahindra XUV300 TGDi and Thar SUVs will be used as official vehicles for the event.
Speaking about the Mahindra Thar, the off-road focussed SUV is offered with three engine options in India. The least powerful of the lot is the 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine that pushes out 117bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. Also, this powertrain comes exclusively in RWD avatar.
On the other hand, the 2.2-litre, turbocharged diesel engine produces 130bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. Customers can also choose a 6-speed automatic transmission with this powertrain. Other than these engine options, there is also a 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine with 150bhp of power and 300Nm of torque.
