One-Off Darth Vader Car From Hot Wheels Actually Runs (With Video)
The dark side of the force has just received a sinister addition to its transportation. It's called the Darth Vader Car and is a one-off, full-size, fully functional inspired by the Lord of the Sith.

This rather ominous looking set of wheels is actually an impressive piece of machinery, and is the brainchild of Hot Wheels, the famous toy car manufacturer. The car is the product of a fully in-house design effort, and built by Picture Car Warehouse.

Darth Vader will have no problem chasing down Luke Skywalker since the Vader car features an LS3 V8 engine that produces 526 horsepower, but Mattel say the car will do only around 130 km/h. Inspired by Darth Vader's helmet, this car actually makes his deep breathing sounds too, and features a light-sabre inspired backlit side exhaust system. The nose section of the car is made of carbon fibre and it rides on cool MHT rims.
The Vader car will be showcased today at San Diego Comic-Con and will continue to make appearances for fans post the event. Collectors attending will be able to purchase a 1:64 replica of the car in a special commemorative box and light sabre casing for USD 40.
Mattel regularly delivers a host of custom designs for their miniatures, but this project must have been extra special to them.
