Sony Gran Turismo 6 Confirmed: Images & Trailer
Sony has confirmed the launch of Gran Turismo 6, the sixth iteration of the incredibly popular Sony PlayStation racing simulation game. Gran Turismo 6 will hit stores in December this year. 2013 also marks the 15th anniversary of the Sony Gran Turismo franchise, with the original Gran Turismo released in December of 1997.
The announcement was made on May 15th, along with the launch of a trailer video, giving us a glimpse of what to expect. Gran Turismo 6 makes use of a graphics engine which pushes the capabilities of the PlayStation gaming hardware. It also increases flexibility so that future modifications and additions, including through downloadable content, can be easily made.
Gran Turismo 6 will feature 1,200 cars and 71 tracks, but if those numbers aren't good enough then more will be added via downloadable packs. PS3 owners will be glad to know that GT6 is backward compatible, meaning it will run on your PS3 system. Gran Turismo 5, which took five years to develop at a cost of $80 million was released in 2010. It went on to sell more than 10 million copies. Gran Turismo 6, which will be released in time for PlayStation 4 launch, is expected to beat GT5.
