Svitch Lite XE Foldable Electric Bicycle Launched At Rs 74,999: A Fun Take On Personal Mobility

Electric mobility is the next big thing and there are hundreds of EV startups that are attempting to create the next big disruption. While the big brands battle it out to bring new EV tech to the scooter, motorcycle, and passenger vehicle segment, there's a quiet revolution taking place in the personal mobility space.

Svitch Bike is one of the brands that is attempting to change the way we look at bicycles. There are several full-size bicycles with an electric motor and battery incorporated into them. However, Svitch Bike is not aiming at the full-size bicycle market. Instead, the brand has since the start only concentrated on compact, foldable bicycles.

Svitch Bike already retailed four models of its foldable electric bicycles in India - NXE, MXE, XE, and XE+. Now, Svitch has launched the Lite XE. At first glance, one wouldn't find many differences between the five Svitch bicycles. However, there are a few mechanical differences between the models.

The Svitch Lite XE gets a compact, foldable aluminium frame, a telescopic fork up front and a spring at the rear which makes it a dual suspension bike. It rides on the same miniature spoked wheels also seen on other Svitch bicycles. These wheels are shod with dual-purpose tyres and braking duties are handled by discs on both ends.

According to Svitch, the Lite XE can handle both on-road and off-road usage. In terms of the electricals, the Lite XE is powered by a 36V, 10.4Ah battery that sends juice to the 250W hub motor at the rear. To assist the electric motor and to retain mobility even when the EV powertrain is turned off, the bicycle is equipped with a seven-speed derailleur at the rear. The bicycle is also equipped with an LCD screen to display vehicle stats.
