Truck-Helicopter Hybrid, Black Knight Transformer, Takes First Flight
A U.S military commissioned project, being handled by a company called Advanced Tactics, has advanced a step towards becoming a reality. Meet Black Knight Transformer, a truck that can take off like a helicopter.
Advanced Tactics is company based in El Segundo, California that specializes in developing next-generation military and civil vehicles technology. The Black Knight Transformer being developed by it for the military is a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) vehicle.

In its first full-scale trial run, the Black Knight Transformer managed to reach a height of 10 ft.

The test vehicle looks more like a shipping crate, but once ready it will take the form of a truck that will be able to transport troops and cargo, with a carrying capacity of 2,000 kg.

Once successfully developed and ready for combat, the Black Knight Transformer would be able to reach a height of 3,050 metres and will also be able to drive on roads at speeds of up to 112 km/h.

The Black Knight Transformer uses eight rotors, four on each sides, to fly. The rotors can be folded when on ground and tilt forward to fly at higher speeds.

Panther Transformer is a smaller version of the Black Knight with about half the carrying capacity.

Advanced Tactics' VTOL vehicles can be piloted from the inside and also remotely, which gives it an added advantage.
