Vande Bharat Train Achieves Milestone With Equivalent of 310 World Trips
Since its inception, the Vande Bharat train, manufactured in India for domestic use, has completed the equivalent of 310 trips around the world, according to the railway administration.
Despite operating solely within India, this semi high-speed train has covered an impressive distance. The railway administration has shared detailed information about this remarkable achievement.
The Railway Administration decided to create a dedicated semi high-speed train and tasked the Chennai Integral Coach Factory (ICF) with its development. The Chennai ICF designed and completed a train capable of running at 180 km per hour. Initially, this train was exported abroad before being modified for use in India.
In 2019, the Vande Bharat train was introduced in India. Since then, it has been almost five years, and the train has made 18,423 trips within the country. The train features model coaches equipped with all necessary amenities and advanced safety technology.
The Vande Bharat train is designed to run at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour. According to official data, 105.57% of passengers have used this train so far. Among these passengers, a significant number are youth aged between 26 to 45 years, accounting for 45.9% of the total users.
From its launch until March 31, the Vande Bharat train has traveled a total of 1,24,87,540 kilometers. This distance is equivalent to traveling around the earth approximately 310 times. In the last financial year alone, from April 2023 to March 31, 2024, it covered a distance of 97,71,750 kilometers.
Features and Amenities
The Vande Bharat train is a fully enclosed design that minimizes vibrations even at high speeds, ensuring a comfortable journey for passengers. The train also features automatically closing doors when in motion.
Additional amenities include reclining seats, luxurious facilities, special toilets for differently-abled passengers, and revolving seats in the executive class. These features have increased interest in traveling on this train, leading to higher passenger numbers.
