Back in 2009 Bajaj came out with the Pulsar 220F, a Pulsar variant that was the largest displacement bike it had ever made. Its marketing tagline read "the fastest bike in India". With a 0-60 km/h time of about 4 seconds, it was indeed the fastest then, but times have changed and India plays hosts to several 200cc, 250cc and 300cc performance bikes, all of which outperform the good old Pulsar hands down.
Here, we have compiled data gathered by us of various performance bikes from the 200cc, 250cc and 300cc segments. List of some of the quickest small displacement performance bikes available in India.
Bajaj Pulsar 220F
Price: Rs 84,055 (Ex-showroom, Delhi)
Displacement: 220cc
Power - 20.76 horsepower & 19.12 Nm torque

Top speed: Over 135 km/h
Weight: 150 kg
The erstwhile "Fastest Indian" is now outdated. But its relatively low price means Bajaj still sells enough bikes to justify continuing production. But for how long?
Hero MotoCorp Karizma ZMR
Price: INR 1,04,010 lakh (ex-showroom)
Displacement: 225cc
Power: 17.6 horsepower and 18.35Nm torque
0-60 km/h: 4.5s
0-100 km/h: 13.1s
Top speed: 128 km/h
Weight: 159 kg
Hero Karizma ZMR came out at the same time as the Pulsar 200F. However, unlike the Pulsar, the ZMR still remains the company's flagship model. Not for long, though, since a successor is set to make its debut soon.
Bajaj Pulsar 200NS

Bajaj's flagship bike is a solid performerbut retains its commuter bike genes. As such, the bike is a good all-rounder. The fastest Pulsar is also the most good looking in the Pulsar family that stretches more than a decade.
KTM 200 Duke
Price: INR 1.5 lakhs (on-road)
Displacement: 200cc
Power: 25 horsepower and 19.2 Nm torque
0-60 km/h: 3.3s
0-100 km/h: 9.5s
Top Speed: Over 135 km/h
Weight: 136 kg
This is the bike that brought the KTM craze to India and we have Bajaj to thank for that. Two interesting facts about the Duke 200 is that it is the best bike in its price range for riding in the city or on a track. However, not the best for highway cruising.

The CBR250R takes its place alongside the 200 Duke as one of the best bikes in the 200cc and 250cc bike segment. While the 200 Duke is better inside the city, the CBR250R can be considered the best highway bike in India in its price range (not considering Royal Enfield cruisers).
Hyosung GT250R
Price: INR 2.80 lakhs (Ex-showroom)
Displacement: 199.5cc

Weight: 168 kg
The GT250R has nothing going for it. It is expensive, lacks performance relative to the price you pay and sports an outdated design and poor build quality. But clearly the bike is selling in reasonably good numbers as it is still here. One would only buy this bike for its bulky stature and road presence that commands.
KTM 390 Duke

Where the 200 Duke feels frantic and excitable, the 390 Duke exhibits a calm and confident demeanor. The bike is quick, be it on track or on the highway. But due to its speed and power it is not the easiest of bikes to handle for everyday use. Note: Since it is a naked bike riding at high speeds proves difficult for the rider due to wind resistance. If you intend to do plenty of highway riding the ideal thing to do is to attach a high windshield.
Kawasaki Ninja 300

If you want a faired sports bike with ample amount of performance and attitude do not think twice. Go for the baby Ninja, considering you are willing to spend approximately INR 4 lakhs, which is the on-road price you'll be paying.
Suzuki GW250 Inazuma

Weight: 183 kg
Suzuki Inazuma is not exactly a performance bike. In fact, it is considered to be a commuter bike in may countries where it is sold. Its styling is one of a commuter bike too. As such, despite the two-cylinder 250cc engine the 'Zuma' is relatively low on power and performance. Instead, what it offers is reliability and an extremely smooth engine. If only this amazing bike was less expensive.
