Bounce Infinity & Greaves Electric Partner Up For EV Battery Swap Services

Bounce Infinity had unveiled its battery swapping setup last December at the launch of the E1 electric scooter. The partnership will first try out the battery swapping stations in the city of Bangalore as part of a pilot project.

Under phase I of the plans for the partnership, Bounce Infinity will set up 300 battery swapping stations each in 10 cities across the nation.

Speaking about the partnership, Vivekananda Hallekere, Co-Founder & CEO, Bounce, said, "Bounce and Greaves Retail remain committed in bringing affordable and sustainable solutions to the market. The partnership will see Greaves Retail's Ampere brand of electric scooters along with the companies offerings for the electric three-wheeler B2B and B2C sectors take advantage of Bounce Infinity's battery swapping platform.

This will also mean that Greaves Retail will soon be able to sell all models under the Ampere brand using the Battery as a Service (BAAS), which should bring down the purchasing cost of these electric scooters.

Bounce Infinity plans to set up its battery swapping stations in a diverse set of locations including residential complexes, petrol bunks, restaurants, cafes, co-living spaces, corporate offices, and Kirana stores among others.

Battery Swapping stations will bring down the waiting time from emptying out a battery to riding again with a full unit exponentially. With battery swapping getting a fully charged battery pack will take just a few minutes, which is comparable to the time spent by owners of fossil fuel powered vehicles at a gas station.

Each swapping station will provide fully charged and ready to go battery packs to Ampere and other Greaves retail customers. Riders will be able to locate a swap station online (Bounce currently offers this through its own app for Infinity E1 customers) and swap out battery packs in a matter of minutes to get rid of the anxiety caused by worrying about charging times and low range.

Bounce Infinity claims that its battery packs are designed keeping interoperability in mind. Bounce claims that its battery swapping network supports diverse vehicle segments, brands, and models while being future-proof, technology-enhanced and accessible to lakhs of customers.

Bounce Infinity's plans for its battery swapping network will see it set up battery swapping stations within one kilometre of anywhere in the city. The company claims that will be able to support battery swapping for 1 million scooters in the next 12 to 24 months.

To help it rapidly expand the network of battery swapping stations, Bounce Infinity has partnered with brands like Nobroker, Park+, Unigas, Readyassist, Kitchens, HelloWorld and Goodbox among others.

The partnership between Bounce Infinity & Greaves Retail will see the latter use Bounce's battery swapping network. Battery swapping ensures that waiting times for a full battery are brought down to just a few minutes and partnerships such as this are the way forward for the proliferation of EVs in India.
