River Rolls Out First Indie Electric Scooter From Its Hoskote Plant – Deliveries In September
River, an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer based in Bengaluru, has rolled out the first unit of the Indie electric scooter at its newly established manufacturing facility in Hoskote, Karnataka. The state-of-the-art manufacturing plant covers an area of 120,000 square feet and has the capacity to produce 100,000 units annually.
It is equipped with automated assembly lines for both battery pack and vehicle assembly. Aravind Mani, Co-Founder and CEO of River, expressed his excitement about this milestone achievement. He stated that it was a special moment for the company to see the first Indie rolling off the production line.
As promised during the launch of the Indie electric scooter in February this year, deliveries for the model have been scheduled to commence in September for pre-order customers in Bengaluru. This will be followed by a nationwide rollout of the product in the coming months.
Mani expressed gratitude towards all their pre-order customers for their early support. As a goodwill gesture, River also remained committed to its initially promised ex-showroom price of Rs 1,25,000 despite the recent revision to the FAME II Subsidy program.
That being said, the updated price of the River Indie electric scooter is expected to be announced soon. In addition to production activities, River is also working on establishing its first experience centre in Bengaluru which is scheduled to open in November this year.
Meanwhile, customers who pre-ordered the model can visit their River account and book a slot to test-ride the Indie electric scooter. Also, River has successfully raised a total funding amount of $28 million from renowned investors such as Al Futtaim Group, Chris Sacca's Lowercarbon Capital, Toyota Ventures, Maniv Mobility, and Trucks VC.
It is also worth mentioning that the River stands as the only Indian investment for Al Futtaim Group, Toyota Ventures, Trucks VC, and Maniv Mobility.
