Royal Enfield Electric Motorcycle Confirmed – Here’s What We Know So Far

When you speak about Royal Enfield, the first thing that crosses your mind is the 'thump'. Now, in a recent turn of events, Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director of Royal Enfield has confirmed that the company is working on an electric motorcycle.

It is also worth mentioning that Royal Enfield's upcoming electric motorcycle is being co-developed with Stark Future. On top of that, the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer has invested approximately Rs 450 crores in Stark Future.

Royal Enfield Electric Motorcycle Confirmed

While Royal Enfield is yet to release any other information regarding its upcoming electric motorcycle, we expect this Royal Enfield electric motorcycle to make its public debut within the next two years.

Furthermore, we also expect Royal Enfield to launch its first electric motorcycle around 2025, which we think would be a better time for electric motorcycles as more people are likely to adopt electric vehicles.

Also, Royal Enfield will have plenty of time to develop a well-rounded package for its customers with its upcoming electric motorcycle by studying the current crop of electric motorcycles such as the Ultraviolette F77, Tork Kratos, and more.

Speaking about electric motorcycles from traditional motorcycle manufacturers, Harley Davidson made a separate brand for its electric motorcycles called the LiveWire. In fact, its first motorcycle, the LiveWire One, does not even bear the Harley Davidson logo.

Powering the LiveWire One is a liquid-cooled electric motor with 103bhp of peak power and 116Nm of peak torque. Furthermore, this electric motorcycle from Harley Davidson also comes with multiple ride modes for better adaptability to its rider's preference.

That being said, we do not expect to see Royal Enfield knocking on the doors of LiveWire with its upcoming electric motorcycle as both manufacturers cater to very different customer bases.

Thoughts About Royal Enfield's Upcoming Electric Motorcycle

With the launch of Royal Enfield's electric motorcycle in India, the company will not only be foraying into a new territory dominated by startups but it will also make its entry into the alleged future propulsion technology.
