Aprilia has introduced the Tuono 457 at this year's EICMA, a bike closely related to the RS 457. While they share many features, there are notable distinctions. The Tuono 457 stands out with its unique design and colour options. Unlike the RS 457's triple-pod headlight, the Tuono sports a single-pod headlight flanked by sharp LED DRLs. It also has fewer body panels, limited to the tank and tail section.

Design and Colour Variations

The Tuono 457 is available in two colours: red and white, whereas the RS 457 offers three colour choices. The design differences extend to the bodywork as well. The RS 457 features a fully-faired design, while the Tuono opts for minimalistic styling with only two small angular panels on each side.

Seating Position and Riding Comfort

As a naked bike, the Tuono 457 replaces the RS's clip-on handlebars with a traditional handlebar setup. This change provides a more upright seating position, enhancing comfort for longer rides compared to the sportier stance of the RS model.

Mechanical Similarities and Differences

Both bikes share key mechanical components such as the engine, main frame, suspension, brakes, and electronics. They also have an identical seat height of 800mm and weigh 175kg. However, there are subtle differences in fuel capacity and gearing. The Tuono has a slightly smaller fuel tank at 12.7 litres compared to the RS's 13 litres.

The gearing on the Tuono is shorter due to a larger rear sprocket. This results in stronger acceleration but may slightly reduce top speed compared to its sibling. Despite these differences, both models maintain similar performance characteristics.

Price Expectations

Historically, Tuono models have been priced lower than their RS counterparts. Therefore, it's anticipated that the Tuono 457 will be priced below Rs 4.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India), which is what the RS 457 costs.

In essence, while sharing much with its sibling model, the Tuono 457 offers distinct features that cater to different preferences in terms of design and riding style.
