Ather Energy Joins Hands With Tata Institute Of Skills To Forge India’s EV Workforce Of Tomorrow
Ather Energy, a prominent electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India, has joined forces with TATA Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) to offer specialised training programs in the EV sector. This collaboration aims to develop a skilled workforce to meet the increasing demands of the EV market in India.
By merging Ather Energy's industry expertise with TATA IIS's commitment to skill development, this partnership will provide comprehensive courses in EV technology and battery specialisation.

The rapid growth of India's EV sector is driven by technological advancements and rising consumer adoption. However, a recent study indicates a significant skill gap within the industry.
While demand for EVs is on the rise, there is a shortage of technicians trained specifically in electric vehicle systems and battery technologies. This partnership between Ather Energy and TATA IIS seeks to address this gap by offering extensive training that includes technical knowledge.
Specialised Training Programs for EV Technicians
Ather Energy will be responsible for creating programs that equip trainees with technical knowledge in battery systems, electric motors, power electronics, charging infrastructure, and vehicle safety. Trainees will also gain practical experience in EV maintenance, repair, and diagnostics, along with essential soft skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
In addition to developing these programs, Ather Energy will supply vehicles, motors, batteries, and other essential hardware to establish EV labs at TATA IIS facilities nationwide. Ather Energy will also train TATA IIS instructors at its own locations, including manufacturing plants and R&D labs. The course content will be continuously reviewed and updated by Ather Energy to ensure it remains relevant to industry trends and technological advancements.
Addressing the Skill Gap
Swapnil Jain, Co-founder & CTO of Ather Energy stated, "While the industry is addressing this challenge effectively, the need for a skilled workforce is also increasing. To actively bridge this gap, we are delighted to work with Tata IIS in providing a skilling solution for the EV sector by developing training programs for EV technicians and battery specialists."
Sabyasachi Das, CEO of Tata IIS added, "India's electric vehicle (EV) industry, particularly the two-wheeler segment, is growing at an exponential rate, expanding the need for a highly skilled workforce. We are delighted to partner with Ather Energy, one of India's leading manufacturers of electric two-wheelers, to launch specialised training programs for EV technicians and battery specialists."
This collaboration between Ather Energy and TATA IIS highlights their shared commitment to addressing the skill gap in India's rapidly growing EV sector. By providing comprehensive training programs that include both technical knowledge and practical experience, they aim to create a skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of this evolving industry.
