Hero MotoCorp Revamps Destini Scooter With Retro Design And Modern Features

Hero MotoCorp, a leader in the commuter motorcycle market, has seen less success with its scooters. This could be due to their lack of distinctive design and style. However, upcoming models like the new Destini aim to change this perception.

The current top-selling scooter from Hero MotoCorp is the Destini 125. Last August, Hero introduced a more affordable variant called Destini Prime. Now, Hero is working on a facelift for the Destini model, which will feature significant design and styling updates.

New Hero Destini Scooter – Retro Aesthetics

The latest teaser hints at a retro-inspired design for the new Destini facelift. The scooter's curvy and minimalistic body panels suggest an approach similar to brands like Vespa and Lambretta. The front apron has been redesigned with new lighting and curvy layers, affecting the front fender, headlight, cowl, and rear-view mirrors.

One notable change is the introduction of a dual-tone Pearl Black colour option. More vibrant colour choices may also be available for the updated scooter. The sides feature a new dual-tone stepped seat that adds a sporty look and feel. Smooth surfacing on the side panels is reminiscent of popular retro scooters, and the 3D 'Destini’ logo enhances its dynamic profile.

New Hero Destini Scooter – Enhanced Features

The exhaust pipe remains unchanged from the current model, but there is a new exhaust shield. The pillion backrest has been redesigned for improved comfort. New alloy wheels are also part of the update, and it would be beneficial if Hero offers 12-inch wheels instead of the existing 10-inch ones.

At the rear, the overhang adopts a retro touch with slimmer tail lamps and indicators replacing bulkier units from the previous model. The external fuel filler cap has also changed from circular to square.

New Hero Destini 125 – Hardware Specifications

The engine specifications are expected to remain unchanged. The new Hero Destini 125 will continue using the existing 124.6cc air-cooled SI engine that delivers 9 bhp and 10.4 Nm of torque. However, select variants will now feature a front disc brake instead of just drum brakes on both ends.

The suspension setup will stay the same with telescopic forks at the front and unit swing with spring-loaded hydraulic dampers at the rear. Design sketches suggest a possible upgrade to a fully digital instrument cluster from the current digi-analogue display.

The new Hero Destini is anticipated to launch during the upcoming festive season. It might come with slightly higher pricing but should still remain one of the most affordable 125cc scooters in India.
