Hero Splendor Plus XTEC Receives Front Disc Brake: An Upgrade That Took 30 Years
Hero MotoCorp has introduced a front disc brake for the Hero Splendor Plus XTEC, marking the first time in 30 years that the Splendor model has received this upgrade. The new variant features a 240 mm disc brake at the front and a 130 mm drum brake at the rear. This enhancement is priced at ₹83,461 (ex-showroom), which is ₹3,550 more than the drum brake version.
The rest of the motorcycle remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by a 97.2 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with fuel injection. This engine produces 7.9 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 8.05 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm, paired with a 4-speed gearbox. The addition of the front disc brake makes the bike about 1.6 kg heavier, bringing its kerb weight to 113.6 kg.
Hero Splendor+ XTEC Features
The Hero Splendor Plus XTEC comes equipped with several modern features aimed at enhancing rider convenience and safety. These include an LED headlamp, a digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, and a real-time mileage indicator. Additionally, it boasts the i3S start/stop system for improved fuel efficiency and a side-stand cut-off feature.
Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and 5-step adjustable dual shocks at the rear. The braking system on the top variant includes a new 240 mm disc brake at the front and a 130 mm drum brake at the rear. Lower trims continue to use 130 mm drum brakes on both ends and come with an Integrated Braking System (IBS).
The bike is available in three colour options: Black Sparkling Blue, Black Tornado Grey, and Black Red. These choices cater to different aesthetic preferences of riders while maintaining the classic appeal of the Splendor series.
