Hero Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 Vs Honda Shine 100: Which To Choose?
Hero MotoCorp recently launched the newest generation of the Splendor Plus Xtec. This bike received some updates in its 2.0 model and a slight price increase. The Splendor is a well-known name in the commuter market, while the Honda Shine 100 also has many buyers. Honda revealed that it sold over three lakh units of the Shine 100 since its launch last year.
Design
Both the Splendor and Shine 100 have simple structures. The Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 has a small grab rail at the back, doubling as a tail rack, and hooks on both sides for commercial use. The Shine 100 has a plain build, suitable for office-goers.
Features
The Splendor's Xtec trim is loaded with modern features. It has an LED headlight, a fully digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity for call and SMS alerts, and a USB charging port. The Shine 100, in comparison, uses an analog setup and lacks many features present in the Splendor.
Engine
The Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 is powered by a 100cc single-cylinder engine. It produces 7.09bhp and 8.05Nm, with a four-speed gearbox. The Shine 100 uses a 98.9cc single-cylinder motor, offering 7.28bhp and 8.05Nm, also paired with a four-speed gearbox. The performance numbers are quite similar.
Hardware
Both motorcycles feature telescopic front forks, dual rear shocks, drum brakes at both ends, and alloy wheels with road-biased tyres. The hardware setup is quite comparable between the two, making them quite closely matched in paper.
Price
The Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 is priced at Rs. 82,911 (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the Shine 100 costs Rs. 64,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The price difference is about Rs. 18,000.

The Hero Splendor motorcycle offers more features at a higher price, making it a better option if you want additional features. If basic commuting is your goal, the Shine 100 is a good choice.
