Bajaj Chetak 3501 & 3502 Electric Scooters Launched In India – Prices Start At Rs 1.20 Lakh
Bajaj Auto has introduced the updated version of its electric scooter, Chetak, in India. The new model starts at Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 3502 variant, while the 3501 variant is priced at Rs 1.27 lakh (ex-showroom). A 3503 variant will also be launched soon. The scooter, originally released in 2020, now boasts several enhancements in 2024, focusing on powertrain and features to make it "the best Chetak yet."
Design
The design of the latest Bajaj Chetak retains its neo-classic look with a metallic body reminiscent of its predecessor. It features a circular headlamp with DRL and a sleek apron with integrated turn indicators and a central Chetak badge. Enhancements include a longer floorboard and an extended single-piece seat by 80 mm, adding to its modern appeal.
Enhanced Features & Safety
The rear of the scooter maintains a similar look to previous models, featuring an extended tail section with tail lamps and a smooth side profile displaying the Chetak name. Additionally, it offers an expanded boot space of 35 litres. The digital instrument cluster now includes a 5-inch touch TFT screen providing essential EV information.
For safety, Bajaj has incorporated geo-fencing, theft alerts, accident detection, and overspeed alerts among other features. Mechanical switches have been replaced with tactile ones for improved user experience. Navigation is facilitated through integrated maps, along with call management and music control options.
Powertrain & Performance
Built on a new platform, the Bajaj Chetak is designed to accommodate more battery space. It is powered by a new 3.5 kWh battery pack connected to a 4 kW motor that allows the scooter to reach speeds up to 73 kmph. This setup claims to deliver over 150 km range per charge, with a real-world range of approximately 125 km.
Charging efficiency has been enhanced with a 950-watt onboard charger capable of charging from zero to eighty percent in three hours. This makes it convenient for daily use while ensuring quick turnaround times for charging sessions.
