Ola Electric To Launch Gen 3 Scooters In 2025: All Details Here
Ola Electric is set to deliver its Gen 3 platform-based electric scooters by January 2025, ahead of the previously anticipated timeline of mid-March to April 2025. This new platform features innovations like using the battery as a structural component and a magnet-less motor. The company aims to cater to both mass-market and premium customers with these advancements.
The Gen 3 platform will introduce two new sub-brands, S2 and S3, expanding beyond the existing S1 series. The S2 brand will offer three models: a City model for urban travel, a Tourer for longer rides, and a sports model for enthusiasts. Meanwhile, the S3 sub-brand targets the premium segment with two maxi-scooters, the Grand Adventure and Grand Tourer, focusing on luxury and performance.

Gen 3 Platform Innovations
Ola's Gen 3 platform includes an integrated battery, magnet-less motor, and electronics within the chassis. This design promises a 26 percent performance boost and over 20 percent cost reduction compared to earlier models. Magnet-less motors use magnetised electrical coils instead of permanent magnets, offering greater torque.
A senior company official mentioned that Ola's vertical integration strategy with the Gen 3 platform is scalable. It will utilise 4,860 lithium-ion cells produced at its Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu by Q1 FY26. This approach aligns with Ola's goal to enhance efficiency and reduce costs in its production processes.
Expanding Market Presence
Ola Electric holds around a 30 percent share in the electric two-wheeler market. The company plans to expand its distribution network from 782 stores to 2,000 by March 2025. Additionally, Ola intends to launch the Roadster series of electric motorcycles with deliveries starting in Q4 FY2025.
The company also aims to introduce at least one new product quarterly as part of its plan to unveil 20 new products. Currently, Ola's electric scooters are priced starting at Rs 75,000 (ex-showroom, India). These efforts reflect Ola's commitment to broadening its product range and market reach.
Service Network Enhancements
Ola acknowledged capacity issues at its service centres but has resolved most of them. Approximately 80 percent of service requests are now addressed "within a single day." To further improve service delivery, Ola launched the 'Network Partner Programme' in September, which now boasts over 1,000 partners.
An official noted that "The Network Partner Programme will enhance the benefits of our direct-to-consumer (D2C) network." This initiative aims to increase EV penetration in India with low capital investment from partners and rapid scalability. By end-2025, Ola plans to expand its network to include 10,000 sales and service partners.
In a regulatory filing after their Q2 FY25 results investor call, Ola Electric confirmed that deliveries for S1 Gen 3 products would commence earlier than planned next year. This move underscores Ola's proactive approach in meeting growing demand while enhancing customer satisfaction through timely product availability.
