Luca Marini Earns First Point For Repsol Honda Team At Germany's 2024 MotoGP
Luca Marini concluded his most consistent weekend of the year with a hard-fought German GP, marking his first score as a Repsol Honda Team rider. Fans filled the Sachsenring early for Round Nine of the MotoGP World Championship, eager to witness the action before the summer break.
Marini demonstrated his pace throughout the weekend and aimed to lead Honda's charge in the 30-lap Grand Prix. He adjusted his strategy from Saturday, gradually building speed in the opening laps. In the final third of the race, Marini overtook Takaaki Nakagami to lead their group. Despite Nakagami finishing just ahead, a post-race penalty for Augusto Fernandez promoted Marini to 15th, earning his first point of the season.

Joan Mir's Determination
Joan Mir showed relentless determination as he continued working with his team to improve his performance. Despite a challenging day, he finished 18th after post-race penalties. Mir and his team immediately began analyzing data to understand what went wrong and how to improve for future races.
"We have to use this weekend to understand what happened and how to avoid it in the future," said Mir. "Again, I was unable to unlock my full potential and I was struggling more than the other Honda riders. A long race, a tough race and one to learn a lot from."
Looking Ahead
Both Repsol Honda Team riders have identified key areas for improvement for the rest of the season. They are hopeful for better results when racing resumes at Silverstone in early August. The British GP will mark the start of the second half of the 2024 season and feature a special historical livery for Repsol Honda Team.
"I am happy with what we have done in the first half of the year overall," said Marini. "Of course, I didn't expect to struggle so much but we are starting to turn things around now."
